Indian coffee is almost entirely shade-grown, which is unusual globally and matters more than most people realise. Under a canopy the cherry ripens slower, sugars develop further, and the surrounding forest stays intact — the same estates carry pepper vines, cardamom and birdlife that a sun plantation simply erases.
This lot comes off a family estate above Chikmagalur. We roast it medium — dropped just past first crack — so it works in a French press, a moka pot, a pour-over or a South Indian filter without arguing with any of them.
Every tin carries a roast date, not a best-before. Buy it close to the date and grind it when you drink it.
