Terms of service

The agreement between you and the mill when you buy something here. Written in the same voice as the rest of the site, because terms nobody can read are terms nobody agreed to.

Last updated 6 August 2026

You are buying from The Old Mill Goods in Kotagiri. An order is an offer we accept by despatching it. Prices include GST. These are foods, not medicines, and we make no health claims for them. Indian law applies.

A plain summary, for speed. The numbered sections below are the terms themselves, and where the two read differently the sections are what applies.

1Who you are buying from

The Old Mill Goods, The Old Mill, Kannerimukku Road, Kotagiri, The Nilgiris 643217.

FSSAI licence 10021064001729. GSTIN 33AAKCT2916Q1ZP.

We are the seller of everything on this site. There is no marketplace here and no third-party sellers: every item is made, packed and despatched by us, which is also why we can tell you which herd or which slope it came from.

2Agreeing to these terms

Placing an order means you accept these terms, and that you are 18 or older and able to enter a contract under Indian law.

We may change these terms. The date at the top says when they last changed, and the version in force for your order is the one published when you placed it — a change made afterwards does not reach back to it.

If you do not accept them, do not order. Reading the site does not commit you to anything.

3How an order is made

Your order is an offer to buy. The contract exists when we despatch the goods, not when you pay and not when the confirmation email arrives — that email confirms we received the order, which is a different thing.

We may decline an order. It is rare, and there are only three real reasons: a batch fails its lab panel after it was listed, a pin code turns out not to be serviceable for a chilled item, or a price was published in error.

If we decline, you are refunded in full within five working days and told which of the three it was. We do not substitute something else for what you ordered without asking you first.

4Prices and payment

All prices are in Indian rupees and include GST. Delivery and any cold-chain charge are shown separately in the cart before you pay, and are covered by the shipping policy.

Weights on the site are net of packaging. A 500 g jar holds 500 g of ghee.

Payment is taken by our payment partner on their own page. Card and UPI credentials never reach our servers and we never see them. We do not store card details.

A price published in error is not binding on us. If it is obviously wrong — an order of magnitude out, a rupee sign in the wrong place — we will tell you before despatch and refund you in full rather than honour or quietly ignore it.

5Stock and delivery estimates

Stock counts and delivery windows on the site are our best information, not promises. A batch can sell out between the page loading and the order being placed, and a courier network can lose two days to weather on the ghat roads.

Where an estimate cannot be met we tell you and give you the choice: wait, take something else, or have your money back.

Risk in the goods passes to you on delivery. Ownership passes when we have been paid in full.

6What these foods are, and are not

Ghee, tea and coffee. They are foods, and they are sold as foods.

Nothing on this site is a medicine or a treatment for anything. Where the journal or a product page describes a traditional use, it is describing what people have done with it, not making a claim about what it will do for you. We make no health, nutritional or therapeutic claim beyond what is printed on the label, which is what FSSAI approved.

If you are pregnant, unwell, on medication or managing a condition, ask a doctor rather than a food company. Check the ingredients if you have an allergy — they are on every product page and on the jar.

7Our liability

If we get something wrong, our liability to you is limited to the value of the order it concerned.

We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss — a missed occasion, a spoiled recipe, lost profit.

None of that limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for anything caused by our fraud, or for anything else that Indian law does not permit us to limit. Your rights under the Consumer Protection Act 2019 stand whatever this page says.

8What belongs to whom

The words, photographs, film, drawings and the mill seal on this site are ours. Do not republish them, and do not use them to sell something else. Quoting a passage with a link back is fine and always will be.

A review or a photograph you send us stays yours. By sending it you allow us to show it on the site and in our own posts, with your name as you gave it. Ask us to take it down and we will, without asking why.

9Using the site

Use it to look at and buy food. Do not attempt to break into it, scrape it wholesale, or use it to send anything unlawful to anybody.

An account is yours to keep secure. Tell us if you think somebody else has got into it.

We may suspend an account being used in any of those ways. Any order already paid for is still despatched or refunded.

10Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of India, and the courts at Nilgiris, Tamil Nadu have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.

Before it gets that far: write to the grievance officer below. Almost everything is settled there within a day or two, and nothing on this page prevents you from taking a complaint to the National Consumer Helpline on 1915 or to the consumer forum for your district.

Complaints

Grievance Officer

If something about an order has gone wrong and the answer you got did not settle it, write to the officer directly. You will have an acknowledgement within 48 hours and an answer within 30 days, which is what the Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules 2020 require of us.
